The hype surrounding the new version of Stephen King's It has in my opinion been rather unabated. Which is a great thing. This is definitely one of King's finest offerings, albeit too intense for children, which is where I was in life when I first happened upon its eleven-hundred pages.
Considering this, I too am interested in seeing what they've done. And being well-versed with the source material, I want to make note of a few things you should know before hitting the movie theater on what will hopefully be the weekend of September 8.
In my mind, what makes It a more fucked up horror story than what initially meets the eye is that the antagonist is not only a clown; it's in fact a shape shifter, as it takes on the form of things the kids fear most. So yes, most of the time you'll see the clown, but there are other creepy things too which I won't name here.
Second thing. This is one of two story lines. Should the filmmaker be adhering to the source material as faithfully as I hope, there will be a follow-up It with the 'present' storyline featuring the kids as adults.
So, expect a second part in hopefully a year or two.
