Those of whom I have convinced to tune in to Stranger Things will hopefully know what's become of Barb. That was awesome. If not, I'm sorry. You should still watch the episode though.
The Hawkins police have another in on the Byers case at the Department of Defense, yet Hopper is still not satisfied. He decides to check out back-issue newspapers at the library and learns about Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) and his experiments.
Steve confronts Jonathan after school about the photos he was developing in the dark room. Unlucky for Jonathan, his photos get shredded and the camera is dropped to the ground. Luckily for Nancy, she retrieves the remains of the picture which will help her figure out what might have happened to Barb (and possibly Will).
Frustrated by her lack of communication with Will, Joyce decides to try another route. She sets up an Oujia board-style exchange with her son and gets more than she bargained for.
Eleven's trail of telepathic bread crumbs lead the boys to the dragging of a body by the lake, with tragic results.
Episode three, entitled "Holly, Jolly," is devastating. It delves into loss, guilt, and demoralization. Emotions run high all over. Investigations and clues are book-ended by a jolting beginning and end.
Thrills take a back seat to drama in this one, but it's worth the watch. It's all uphill from here.
