A word to the wise- no matter how confident you’re feeling as a writer, don’t ever make promises relating to how often you can create content. The other week, I told everyone I was going to write and post every day…and, for a while, it was alright. Those third and fourth weeks of January I was managing to pull something out of my ass every day; even a short story at the end, albeit one of the most ridiculous ones anyone has ever laid their eyes on.
I can’t say I’m not glad I churned out all of that material every day, because in several ways, it gave me considerable pleasure. But I started experiencing some highly undesirable side effects that ran adjacent to this continuity in posting. Bad insomnia, for one. Very bad insomnia. I also wasn’t eating as much, and I got terrible headaches. Around the time I was posting “Donnie and the Big Hell Cruise,” my temples hurt so bad from concentrating on what I was reading and writing I thought I was going to pop a blood vessel.
Long story short: I needed to take some self care. Successive nights of poor rest do awful things to the psyche. I know mine was not up to creating for some time. And so this is why I took a hiatus on here. My nine to five is also a writing position, so you can only imagine. It was all too much.
Let’s talk NFL. I guess no one is surprised the Brady-Gronk team dominated the Super Bowl last night. After all these years watching Brady in the Super Bowl, I have to admit I get bored. He may be one of the greatest of all time, but watching someone win and win every year just doesn’t make for fun programming after a while. Speaking of fun programming...The Weeknd was my MVP last night. Talk about a win. What a talent. I was very entertained watching him with his masked ensemble. I don’t know what it all really meant—but I liked it!
I guess this is the part where I say something political or COVID-related….
Vaccinations are still poorly distributed but it also hasn’t been a month since the new administration took over, so we must be patient I suppose.
As a healthy thirty-one-year-old, I don’t suspect I’ll get mine for another month at least, considering how they are planning this.
Which is fine!
I hope everyone has a great Monday.
Until next time.
