Holy Sh*t - Notes on 2020, Vol. 18 Election Edition

And so we await the election results. Most of us urgently to the point of ulcer-induced stress. It seemed like I was watching a political thriller when tuning into ABC’s election broadcast Tuesday night. With the dramatic music and political heavies weighing in like Chris Christie (the pun was just too available) our country really knows how to keep us all pissing ourselves.

As we watch the few remaining states show their true blue or red color, I want everyone to remember that keeping a larger perspective is very, very important. Whether you’re a Trump supporter, a centrist, or one of the batshit Kentuckians who voted for Kanye, keeping perspective will help one survive this election year.

Carl Sagan’s book Pale Blue Dot is a discussion of how we all are a microscopic fleck floating within an infinite sea of matter. How much do you want to agonize over the outcome of the 2020 election when your life is running its course the same way no matter what happens? The point is, we really don’t matter very much in the universal context of things. And believe me, I’m imparting this for my own benefit just as much as anyone else’s. I’d love for Biden to win! Trump has failed the US on every fundamental level. He has instilled hate in its people, perpetuated racial discrimination, and undermined a pandemic that is costing American lives every day. He has piloted a national regression unlike anything we’ve ever seen, and with the help of senate fucks like Mitch McConnell and Lindsay Graham.

I’d love to see the legal docs drawn up for these lawsuits. In 230 years, has any one-term president sued a state because of ballot mishandling? Woof.

He’s a sore loser. Not only that— a sore, bankrupt, xenophobic loser. And he’s tampering with democracy.
