Summer Notes of 2021

And I’m back.

How’s everyone’s summer going? I take it since April, all of you reading are by now vaxed up. At least I’d hope.

In any case, it has been quite a different summer season than the last. Truth be told, I’ve been enjoying the maskless runs, going into bars and restaurants, and in general reverting back to my highly social self without any serious constraints to speak of.

What’s going on with the new strains and variants? I’m hoping they will give us until the end of summer until we have to close everything back up again and resume distancing. But maybe not. Hopefully the vaccines have the power to mitigate infections that come from these newer types. I have to admit, I have not been keeping up with my current events as they apply to Covid news.

I know I’m the millionth person to mention this, but why aren’t our vaccination cards wallet friendly? Anyone who works in New York is going to need to present that thing everywhere next month. And while it is no hardship to do so—truly, it is a necessity and I respect de Blasio for mandating this—a wallet-sized vax card would’ve made things just a hair easier. Just saying. In any case, hopefully you all know where yours is. It’s about as important as our birth certificates right now.

Fortunately for the time being, we have 2020’s Olympics to keep everyone preoccupied until Covid starts flaring up again. It was fascinating to watch men’s field hockey teams last weekend. Why don’t we have this here? If you’ve missed it, you should also go back and watch women’s water polo. I have never seen such movement in a pool before in my life. Those ladies are some of the most in shape athletes of this current Olympics and I stand by that. Just trust me. Go check that out.

What else has happened since I last wrote?

Elon Musk’s space trip. Is that not the biggest waste of money that you’ve ever heard of? Did he have any space goals aside from literally just leaving the planet?

Congratulations, Musk. You took a trip up to space for a little while. With all the money and resources at the man’s fingertips, why didn’t he just keep on going until he discovered a new planet or something? Or even just visit the fucking moon and float around? At least he would’ve had some ambition.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. I’ll be back again soon.
