The Delta Variant. How much of a varying condition do we have on our hands here? Can we use the same vaccines to mitigate it?
These are the questions at the forefront of my mind when considering the health and safety conditions of fall 2021. It’s been a fun summer, and while maskwear has seemed to have gone back up, no one is back to floating around in their distancing pods. Restaurants and bars are in full swing. People are hugging and kissing and sharing each other’s cigarettes. Truly, Delta hasn’t done much to scare us.
But hopefully Prez Biden has some strategy formulating so that we’re not in quarantine mode during Thanksgiving. Honestly, I don’t know if I could do all of that again. Especially during the winter. Seasonal depression is bad enough in non-pandemic times. Please don’t be a walking reason why I’m masking up again to go Christmas shopping.
Quite frankly, there should be no excuse for not being vaccinated. If you are willfully not getting it, I will tell you that you are being selfish. You are being selfish to the people whose underlying health problems and vulnerabilities cause them to be high-risk. Even vaccinated, these people would very much still qualify for such a category.
So please. If you haven’t gotten your shot, get it. This is how we keep everything working normally again. And I know how redundant I’m sounding, but I’d like to think I’m resonating with someone out there with this likely patronizing spiel.
For those who are vaxed, you are angels. Have a nice Thursday.
And happy birthday to all the lovely Leos out there.
