There’s a couple of things I want to discuss with you here and I think I’ll start with things I like before I get into things I do not.
First, books.
Anyone familiar with the eighties movie Fletch with Chevy Chase? It turns out the book series based on this film is killer and I recommend it strongly. I burned through the first two installments in a few days; in short, very readable, funny mystery novels in the tradition of quirky, wiseass 70s journalists/investigators.
Second. Hoboken traffic etiquette. Do New Jersey driving instructors still teach the right of way in their classes? It seems like the average motorist who has the stop sign doesn’t seem to understand that you yield to the one who does not. There are too many people living in this town for that kind of nonsense, too much opportunity for accidents. I lay on the horn hard to get the message across whenever this happens to me; Genia hates this.
Nothing new to mention on the Covid front except for the widely varying degrees of mask-wear. Mandatory in some stores, not in others. Our vaccines must not be powerful enough if we’re still getting hit with ebbs and flows of Covid cases. Honestly- the masks are nice on those brutal cold days when I look too miserable to want to show people my face. Ditto for when I have breakouts.
Getting through winter requires a lot of imagination for me. Usually it’s a healthy dose of therapy, eating right, reading, and exercise. The latter of which I’ve been getting at the local gym. Could any of you believe I’ve been doing crossfit? Never thought I’d see the day. It’s been nice to work out parts of my body that haven’t been put to the test since Obama was president. This new habit has also required shedding old expectations of getting my ass busted by screaming trainers. Before crossfit, my weight-lifting experience extended to the high school track team. I’m sure some of you remember the verbally abusive coaches of high school/college who put the fear of God in you. I certainly do. Luckily, I’ve been honing my “skills” in a more controlled environment where people preach methodology and technique, in lieu of quantity of reps.
No real body goal here, just for the mere satisfaction of being and looking fit.
I got nothing else- Happy Wednesday and be healthy.
