In my previous letter to Jersey, I should have mentioned my seeking out a vaccination in another state.
Yes, I have received my initial vaccine! In New York. Hardly an obstacle; just a bus trip and short walk. And I highly encourage people to try to schedule the same.
Jersey is taking too long. With summer around the corner, there is no telling how long it is going to take for my generalized demographic (healthy people in their early thirties) to acquire the vaccine. With CDC already predicting another spike, how much longer can we stall on opening up access for everyone? Another point of contention I have with our state vaccine processes relates to wastefulness. As many of you probably already know, vaccines get discarded if someone doesn’t make an appointment.
I consider myself lucky, but I’m also a part of the population that needs to be given more attention.
Please, Jersey. Let’s get cracking. There’s a lot of kids walking around right now unmasked. Just go to any athletic field right now where there’s a youth sports practice taking place, and tell me what you see. Masks on chins? Probably.
So, let’s get these young ladies and gentleman scheduled. Before we have another ugly spike.
It isn’t good, Jersey. Love you though.
